A shallow sea clean up was conducted in Modara last Saturday (10th April). Volunteers from The Pearl Protectors and Youth Against Debris (British Council Active Citizens) collaborated in clearing 312KG of waste ranging from plastic packaging, sachets, discarded fishing nets, glass, aluminium, synthetic foam, medical waste and hard plastic.
Youth Against Debris group donated safety boots and gloves which can be used in future cleanups to The Pearl Protectors.
All collected waste were segregated and handed over to recycling collectors and the Colombo Municipality Waste Management Department.
